NW Dots is a free, minimalist generative MIDI sequencer. It places tiny dots across eight lines, where each line is a note in a scale of your choosing.

When you hit play in your DAW, a cursor starts moving across the lines and plays a note whenever it hits a dot. Each dot has a chance of spawning a MIDI note, with its own length, velocity and octave.

Use the sliders to shape and randomize those settings. Every dot gets new settings on each pass of the cursor, so the pattern keeps evolving.

The whole system syncs, plays and pauses with your DAW, so sequences always stay in time.

NW Dots sends MIDI out through a MIDI port of your choosing. Set it to the same port as the MIDI input of the third-party plugin you want to play.

NW Dots is a VST3 plugin for Windows. macOS and Linux versions are in the works, so stay tuned.

1. Copy NW Dots.vst3 from the ZIP file to your VST3 folder.
2. Launch your DAW and rescan VST3 plugins.
3. Have fun.
